Hotel Reservations Page

Our block of rooms at the Marriott is now sold out.  We are surprised, but excited, by this development.  We have secured overflow housing in two downtown hotels. We are also maintaining a waiting list for rooms at the Marriott, which you may join here.

Overflow Hotel Reservations

Courtyard by Marriott

The Courtyard by Marriott is located across the street from the Renaissance Center building and is attached by an enclosed Skybridge. Rooms at the Courtyard are $149/night, single through quad occupancy, and include free wi-fi. This rate is good three days before and three days after Detcon1.

Click here to reserve your room at the Courtyard by Marriott. (Note – as of May 29 the Courtyard is sold out. We anticipate some rooms may open up as we are able to move people from the waiting list to the Marriott, but we encourage you to book at the Crowne Plaza, below.)

You may also book by calling (800) 321-2211.  Guests should mention the Courtyard by Marriott, Detroit Downtown and Detcon1 / NASFiC.  You can also use the general Marriott website, and enter group code sfcsfca for 1 king bed or group code sfcsfcb for 2 queen beds.

Crowne Plaza Detroit Downtown Riverfront

The Crowne Plaza Detroit Downtown Riverfront is located at 2 Washington Boulevard, at Washington and Jefferson Avenue. It is a half mile from the Renaissance Center and adjacent to the Financial District People Mover stop. Rooms at the Crowne Plaza are $139/night single-double and $149/night triple-quad. This rate is good for three days before and two days after Detcon1. If we meet our minimum room block at the Crowne Plaza wi-fi will be free.

Click here to reserve your room at the Crowne Plaza. (See notes below about booking at the Crowne)

The Crowne Plaza system defaults to an arrival date of July 17 and departure date of July 20 and 1 person in the room. If you would like to change the number of people, or have an arrival on the 18th or departure on the 19th, click on the “Change Search” link; you will be able to change the arrival and departure dates and change the number of people in the room. Once you’ve made your changes, click on the “Change Search” button again.

You may also call the hotel to reserve your room.  The number is 1 877 834 3613. Be sure to mention the Crowne Plaza Detroit Downtown Riverfront and Detcon1 / NASFiC.

At this point, the Crowne only has double beds available. If you need a king bed, you can book the double and ask about availability at check in.

Other hotels

There are many other hotels in downtown Detroit if you would like to look for alternative lodging. A link to Expedia results for downtown Detroit is provided for your convenience. Please note that some of these hotels are in downtown Windsor, just across the border. The Detroit-Windsor tunnel bus is a convenient way to travel between Windsor and Detroit and there is a stop about a block from the Renaissance Center. Note that you must have a passport or enhanced driver’s license in order to cross the border, and citizens of some countries may need to check visa requirements.

Marriott Reservations

Note: As of May 1 we are completely sold out of rooms at the Marriott. Information below is for archival purposes only.

Reserving Standard Rooms

All standard room reservations and any reservation modifications must be made through Passkey booking system rather than directly with the hotel until they are transferred to the Marriott housing system on June 26, 2014. The hotel and the Marriott housing system will not be able to see your reservations until then, so please do not contact the hotel with changes to or questions about your reservations. After June 26, you will be able to contact Marriott Reservations directly concerning any changes or questions.

You may also make a reservation by calling 877-901-6632 and referencing code SFC.

All bookings must be made directly by members. Although the convention cannot book standard rooms for you, we will be glad to assist you if there are problems that Passkey’s help desk can’t handle. Please write to should you encounter any problems with your reservations.

Notes on booking:

The calendar in Passkey is Monday to Sunday, please make sure you are booking the correct days. Detcon1 starts on Thursday, July 17 and ends Sunday, July 20.

View Rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows with commanding views of Canada and river views of either Belle Isle or the Ambassador Bridge; these cost $138 compared to the standard rate of $118. If you would like a view room, we recommend that you book the type of room that you want (double-double or king bed) on the room type page. You will have the option of upgrading to a view room on the following page.

The Passkey system will only show you a Standard King option if you indicate one or two guests in the room.  If you want a Standard or View King with three people and a roll-away bed, show two people in the room and add the request for a roll-away in the “Additional Request” section of the Guests page.

Parties and Suite Reservations

NOTE as of April 15 – We are completely sold out of all suites.

We will have designated party floors in the Marriott.  Parties may be held only on the floors in the designated party block. The other floors in the hotel are quiet floors.

Unlike standard sleeping rooms, suites can be booked only through the convention’s suites team. This applies to both party and non-party suite bookings.

For full information on arrangements for parties and suite bookings, see our parties and suites page.

Changes and Assistance

If you need to modify or cancel your reservation, you must do so through the Passkey system until June 26, 2014. At that point, all reservations will be transferred to the hotel. Please do not contact the hotel about your reservation prior to this date, as they will not be able to help you. After June 26, changes can only be made by contacting either the hotel directly or through Marriott reservations.

If you have any questions that Passkey support can’t help you with, contact the Detcon1 housing staff at
